Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme

Lewisham Welcomes Breastfeeding is for all local venues, small or large – businesses, shops, cafes, restaurants, community centres, museums, libraries, leisure centres – anywhere that is open to the public.

The right to breastfeed in any public place is protected by law. This means that breastfeeding parents should never be asked to move, stop feeding or leave. Public perception can leave parents feeling uncertain about whether venues and their staff will put this into practice. Lewisham Welcomes Breastfeeding reassures them that they do care and will help parents feel more comfortable in their venues.
